We're Looking For Guides

Come join us on the rapids!

Would you like a summer job in Maine guiding whitewater rafting trips on the Kennebec River? First you must become a registered Maine Whitewater Guide, pass a State exam, and be trained in CPR and Basic First Aid. If you're interested, we can provide the training for you.

Our whitewater training session will be held from June 3 to June 10, 2007. The training will include Safety Techniques, River Etiquette, Daily Procedures, River Rescue and lots and lots of Whitewater Rafting!!! In short, everything you will need to pass the Maine Whitewater Rafting Guide Exam for the Kennebec River, except for CPR and Basic First Aid. These can be acquired through the Red Cross and must be completed prior to whitewater training.

The cost of the training is $250. A $50 nonrefundable deposit is due with your application by April 1, 2007, with the balance of $200.00 due May 5, 2007. The fee includes your stay at Magic Falls Rafting campground, a training manual, and use of all needed equipment (wetsuits, life jackets, and paddle). You will be responsible for your meals. The training classes will be limited to 18, so if you're interested you should let us know right away.

After you have completed the guide training you will be ready to take the State exam for the Kennebec and Dead Rivers and become a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide, Level I. The application/testing fee is $103.00 plus $90.00 for a two year license. Additional training is required for the Penobscot River, Level II. As a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide you will be able to work for any rafting outfitter. However, we do ask you to train with us if you plan to work for our company. We prefer to hire the guides we train as our program focuses on the high standards we require from everyone on our staff. Our guides earn $55.00 to $85.00 per day plus tips and dinner.
